Reddit has downvoting. It impacts the display. HN has it as well, but it’s not available to users unless they reach a certain reputation score. Does fear of penalty increase quality or decrease engagement?

what if you as the poster had an optional "inbox-0" like interface that allows you to signal to waprcast that a reply is "higher" vs "lower" in value and then the feed re-orders replies based on your ranking can extend this tool to other readers too and weight based on page-rank reputation
