the only reason USA won the gold is because of insane shotmaking. KD hit ever nearly blocked mid-range, steph doing steph things, embid and lebron bullying smaller defenders, etc. but the team was completelyyyy outcoached every game. amazing to see how much of an impact IQ and strategy makes on the game. wouldn't be surprised if the US loses the next olympics.

I hear you but the skill gap is still way too wide. Serbia with Jokic or France with Wemby is a good start but the drop off on second, third and fourth options is not even close. Depends on who shows up from USA next time around but there's a reason we've won 4 in a row and unless we send some scrubs (cough cough Reeves) there's no chance we're not winning a gold medal at home in LA

My friend says the USA phones it in and didn't even need to try and will never lose ever and all of their games were not even close.... Which I think is ridiculous. I bet him $100 the USA will not win gold in one of the next 5 Olympics.

“The only reason they won was cause of insane shotmaking.” This is the case for majority of teams that win at the highest level. Elite players making shots in crucial moments that cause awe. That’s bball. The world is clearly catching up to the US and once Bron Curry and KD are gone we’ll likely see a sharp decline for a period.

In this age of basketball, team chemistry is very crucial. The other teams have the same rosters & coaches for pretty much the past decade, the likes of serbia and france, which played a significant role in this olympics. I think we're gonna need a lengthier & more intensive training camp, on top of a solid roster structure, by next olympics or we could be in trouble.

Most other national teams have chemistry because they’ve been playing with each other for a long time. The US teams haven’t played as long together as long and the team changes a lot

Was basically individual brilliance most of the games, what happens when the OGs like Steph and Lebron retire(lebron is never gonna retire)

Losing the next Olympics will solely be due to the reason that they might not have the same caliber of players as now

Gold was won due to shotmaking, not coaching. IQ and strategy crucial in future games. Next Olympics may bring a different outcome
