On replacing the oldest follow with a new one - wouldn’t it be better to allow some intelligence there? Or allow users to unfollow the most inactive person, or if you plan to use soul bound, the ones with least credibility etc?

Agree, but the functionalities need to add up if you need 1B to adopt.

I like the 5000 cap on follows, I don’t think we need more than that to create an echo chamber

I like how some get kicked out and you form new echo chambers organically. But figure out a better way than mindless purging due to tech reasons.

It would be, but we need to do it in a way that doesn’t break sharding (which we want to introduce in the future to scale to 1B)

Unfortunately most “smarts” would break that since a sharded hub may not know anything about the person you are following
