The value of gamers actually owning their assets via web3 gaming is no where near understood by most gamers yet and thus no where near priced in yet.

The problem is unless there is cross game compatibility financialisation is the main (only?) added benefit.

While that will be a cool addition eventually I don’t agree. The benefit of just using blockchain rails to allow for an open economy for any games assets is in of itself a gigantic upgrade over traditional game economies (and needing to build all that infra themselves).
