"The greatest day in baseball history!" ⚾️ Shohei Ohtani just did something insane. He came into today's game w 48 HRs + 49 SBs... After 3 HRs + 2 SBs (+ 10 RBI + 6 for 6 batting) in a single game... he’s the first person in the 50/50 Club… and 51/51 Club. Ever. (Oh... he's also the game's best Pitcher.)

mania is to excitement as anxiety is to fear (ie, they both are characterized by not being fully specific and detailed about some future thing that may bring you great pleasure or great pain. And this is why mania is not really pleasant even though it is about something good.)

Odysseus is the only Homeric character who speaks to himself. He has “parts” to himself — the speaker (reasons), the heart (obeys), and the man (twists and turns). It is a remarkable anticipation of Plato’s Republic, and helps us understand why Socrates calls Odysseus a philosopher at the end of that dialogue.

Learning is a lot like breathing. There are inhalations - you consume, expand, take in. Then there are exhalations - you clear out, reduce, empty. It’s interesting to ask ourselves from time to time what our breathing has been looking like: Have I only been trying to consume mountains of new ideas and facts? Have I only been looking for that one single principle that explains it all? Rhythm is everything.

Study Peaceful Groupies (A Story): I own more of Groupies than any other NFT except cryptoadz by @gremplin The fun and authenticity of this community (+ working with Yon and his team to build vibes-based reputation into their Discord server back in 2021) is one of the main things that factored into me deciding to fully switch careers into crypto. I've never sold a Groupie. Highly recommend checking them out. ☮️🌈

Founder Archetypes: Jack Sparrow vs. James Bond PG has proposed James Bond as a model of what you're looking for in startup co-founders. The idea is that being calm, resourceful, and effective in a variety of adverse situations is more important than extreme competence in some single domain. I love the directional point, but I think that James Bond can be a pretty intimidating archetype: He is known for not only succeeding, but doing so always with style and charm. I think this is like asking everyone to be a great dancer. I recently watched Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time and it struck me that Jack Sparrow is another interesting model for founders: + He's confident he can run circles around the incumbent (the British Empire) since they've become too rigid and stodgy. + He's light-hearted in near death situations, since pirates are already default-dead. + He's fast-acting, rather than cautious, since he trusts his ability to wiggle out of bad situations when they arise.

🛑 Can we all just stop and appreciate how the /hypersub team has made something super important + super hard → super smooth? I would love to see this exact onchain credit card payment modal become a new standard in crypto apps. This is how we win consumers over.
