The way people prey on parents of neurodiverse kids is ravenous. Everyone claims to have “cures” or “perfect solutions.” Knowing how incredibly hopeless and lonely parenting a kid in the spectrum can be. We just need to see and hold space each other.

Months ago this interaction wouldn’t be possible: Son: Mamá are you hungry? I’m hungry! Me: what do you want to eat? Son: I want to eat grilled cheese 🥹🥰🫂 Raising neurodiverse kids is HARD, keeping up with therapies, everything takes twice as long. But so so worth it!

I also want to say on the whole James Blake thing. I don’t $5-a-month-love James Blake. And his Vault does nothing to get me to that point. So maybe this is just for artists that are happy with their audience and don’t want to find new fans.

My oldest at face painting, the artists asks “what do you want? Tiger? Lion?” As he flips through the book. He settles on butterfly but the person insists “don’t you want something for a boy? Dinosaur?” My husband steps in “look, my kid is headstrong, if he says butterfly, give him the butterfly”🦋

Do not build in a silo, especially in the music industry. Talk to fans 🪭, talk to artists, talk to managers, talk to folks who are in charge of telling their stories.
