Yes Shakhtar Donetskβs stadium the Donbas Arena has been unusable since 2014 due to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The stadium, which opened in 2009 and was one of the most modern in Eastern Europe was heavily damaged during the war between Ukrainian forces and Russian backed separatists following Russiaβs annexation of Crimea and the outbreak of the war in Donbas. Because Donetsk fell under separatist control Shakhtar was forced to relocate. Since 2014 they have played their home games in various cities across Ukraine including Lviv Kharkiv and Kyiv. They currently play in Kyivβs NSC Olimpiyskiy. The Donbas Arena itself was damaged by shelling in 2014 and although it still stands it has not hosted matches since then. The ongoing conflict has made any return to Donetsk impossible for the club.

Yeah Donbas Arena was a world class stadium and itβs tragic that it became a casualty of war. It had everything modern design incredible atmosphere and it even hosted matches during Euro 2012. Shakhtar was at its peak then regularly competing in the Champions League with a squad full of talent. Geopolitics really did change everything. Instead of a football fortress itβs now just another abandoned symbol of conflict. Itβs sad to think about how things could have been different if not for the war.
