24.07.24 - The real challenge of being a founder is the mental. It’s tough because you don’t ever really have clear sign posts of what to do. It’s very much like stumbling through a dark forest with a dimly lit lamp, a broken compass and a machete. Some days there’s a slight break in the trees revealing a lightly trodden path, other days you are at a cliff edge wondering if you are even going the right direction. Sometimes you feel tired and you just don’t feel like getting up, other times you just caught a big meal so you are full of energy. The other thing is that with such wild variability that comes with chance and the openness in your schedule, it’s hard to keep a sense of stability so you have to find some way to make structure for yourself. Everyday it’s that mental game of asking yourself what can I do today to make tomorrow even better. Try, succeed/fail, learn, repeat.
