One of my family members has this huge piece of property with a barn and stuff. And he bought his kids (14,12,10) a Jeep to drive all around on it. By the time they get to drivers Ed they will all have had a year if not years of driving experience 

I’m gonna go visit and have the 12y/o drive me around. She’s the girl child, I don’t trust the boys for obvious reasons

growing up in the Great American Hinterland, me and my siblings were taking the farm truck into town starting around the age of 12. told this anecdote to the nieces and nephews this thanksgiving and they responded the same way i would when i would hear stories of my mom growing up without indoor plumbing. soon manual driving at all will seem totally bonkers and primitive.
