In my quest to disassemble crypto words to try to assemble a new understanding for myself; today’s word on the block is “anonymous”.  I don’t know how that word crept in to blockchain as it was always “pseudonymous” and the weakness of those pseudonymous systems on public networks was known since PGP email.

been thinking around this for a lil bit re:social. pseudonyms let people create new personas but the experience here so far makes me feel that pseudonymity is not sufficient for people to be able to be their whole selves or speak the full truth...

true anonymity is necessary for people to be able to say whatever they truly blv. to be able to cut around cultural norms and the bounds of their pseudonyms. and imo this should be one of the main aims of decentralized social

i know many have raised issues of accountability / consequences for hate speech or speech that doesnt fit norms, and im sure WC would def blacklist an anon relay account, but im gonna make one anyway and hope for the best

this is especially the case with onchain social, where our pseudonyms are tied to our wallets and transaction activity. 
imo as soon as you give an identity a face and a name, it 'hardens'. there are some who are capable of juggling multiple pseudonyms but dont think thats most of us
