Unpolished notes: Found out today that Metis isn’t a DAO, it’s a DAC.
in their blog, DAOs are usually token-based, with all the usual mess like whales, vote-selling and oligarchy while DACs run on reputation. Just sitting here wondering, that plenty of DAOs are testing reputation systems, but they all still call themselves DAOs. DACs were introduced years ago and somehow the term never stuck. Maybe it’s the word “corporation” makes web3 stomachs sick Do we need clear disctinctions under decentralised project / companies / protocols / corporations / name yours. Or do we pack every governance experiment under the DAO term?
