Neil Elden Armstrong was an American astronaut and aerospace engineer and he is the first man to walk on the moon during the Apollo 11 mission on July 20, 1969. He was also a naval aviator, a test pilot and a university professor.

The peak of his fame came with the Apollo 11 mission and stepping on the surface of the moon. His famous quote "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" when he stepped on the moon is recorded in history.
