Been thinking about this recently. A lot of folks use credit cards to get cash or points back in exchange for participating in the game that credit card companies play.

While paying with crypto is attractive from a different few angles, most people won’t care and will see it akin to paying with a debit card.

One potential solution to this is merchants offering a discount for paying with crypto since they can pass on the credit card processing fee savings to shoppers

Although even then that would be like 3% max and that’s a lot less than the value I can get from 4x points on my Amex Gold (worth at least 8%+ imo)

I think adoption of this largely depends on the perceived value of $FLY

My gut says that most consumers (myself included) would still rather get 4x (8%+) back on dining through cards like the Amex Gold (and still get 1x $FLY)

Yeah but not for payments, since credit cards already offer (high value) free stuff like business class flights

To be clear I’m excited to see what they cook up here, I just think it will be tough to compete against the credit card industrial complex
