No, I don't want to mint my friend's picture Not for $30 Not for $3 Not for 30¢ Not even for 3¢ Feels like a forced narrative

You genuinely don't think there's a world where you're minting things for fun? Not even your friends pics but like memes, shorts, posts - all the shit you like on TikTok or IG today?

What's the benefit to me to mint vs. engaging as I do today via likes and comments?

Encourages onchain activity Helps builders make better apps Gives your friends more incentives to mint + post Minting = being a good steward of the onchain economy. Also totally understand your sentiment and think most people are in your camp

Back to my original question, how do any of those things benefit me? I think minting makes sense in some contexts but not in social ones with friends unless it's completely abstracted away and truly FREE ($0.00) and even then I could take it or leave it "minting things for fun" is just another way of saying "giving out small amounts of money for fun" and to me that's just tipping with digital receipts so we should call it what it is and not pretend it's something else

I think this is one of the biggest issues with crypto atm - we all expect a benefit for doing something onchain. I agree with your framing that it is a digital tip but does everything need to have a benefit? Even when you're paying $0.30? In the case of @rodeodotclub the benefit is that you get paid when other people mint after seeing you mint it. Other than that I think its a losing argument so I guess I'd fall back on the benefit being you collect something with the benefit of earning residual royalties from your followers minting it too Good line of questioning tbh
