Interest-based friends > high-quality content The internet is flooded with high-quality content and incumbent platforms have very good algos for distributing it Yet two decades after Facebook launched we still don't have a great way to make new friends online But now we have Farcaster :)

Nah, Farcaster is the place to talk *about* high-quality content from other platforms We should be aiming for high-quality discussion rather than content imo Will lead to more friendships and therefore more users coming to make friends

Number one reason people churn is not enough content. Not everyone is going to make a friend immediately. Need both.

That's because Warpcast isn't oriented around emphasizing discourse and making friends right now, it's all about top-level casts and "content" TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts are all saturated with the same content recycled across platforms to maximize views (common joke is that women see TikToks that men see two weeks later on Reels) What's missing is a niche-oriented place to discuss all of it where you can be yourself and find others with shared interests and values Comments on existing platforms serve a different purpose: more PvP, race to have the best or funniest comment at the top, doesn't facilitate a discussion given the inherent one-to-many format Right now the best discussions like this happen in private groupchats (sharing is way up) and IG is trying to shift that with things like Notes, but Farcaster has the opportunity to be "Notes" but for the whole internet *and* with net-new friends! Things like FIP-2 can help but UX isn't there yet

Making interest-based friends isn't unique to Farcaster.. Similar to @dwr.eth recently sharing how he used Twitter to grow his network in Silicon Valley, I've used Twitter (and other platforms) for more than a decade for the URL --> IRL bridge that many seem to feel is unique to this place TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts aren't apt comps to Farcaster today, perhaps when we see more clients evolve that are visual in nature Extending discussions beyond text-based format – like y'all have been doing with Late Night Crew – is the way forward imo Moreover, I would argue that those high-quality discussions ARE, in fact, content (you have carved them out as separate things!) They yield incremental content, while also providing a more intimate format that's more likely to allow for friendships to bloom
