Sounds like IANA would have to be down for that but I agree, especially with some large companies lobbying for it (Google, GitHub, etc.)

That’s nuts and sad. I still remember my first .io domain. I wonder what the transition process for existing ppl will be.

I’ve moved on from the .io but I guess this further reinforces prices for .com domains
