The World's Longest Breakwater – A Miracle Connecting the Oceans. Located in Basra province, this breakwater was built to protect cargo ships to Iraq from large waves, while opening a direct maritime route to the port of Grand Faw without having to go through other countries. Started in 2015 and completed in 2020 after 5 years of construction with a total cost of 591 million USD, this is not only the longest breakwater in the world but also an important link in Iraq's marine economic development plan.
