The crypto industry is focusing on the wrong "real-world assets." It's easy to see why people want to tokenize traditional financial assets to make them easier to trade ($$$) But the most powerful thing about Web3 is creating assets that could've never existed before π§΅

Bitcoin proved a very powerful thing in this new chapter of the internet: You can have value among a community accrue to members That is, as more people used Bitcoin, the more its value would rise Amazingly, that has allowed Bitcoin to scale faster than the internet itself

Other altcoins that popped up looking to replicate Bitcoin's success proved there are not shortcuts to scaling network effects I don't doubt that adding dollars to a chain's TVL is better than not, but it's not a viable shortcut You need users, and they are difficult to attract

But, what if, instead of focusing on shortcuts, you focused on enabling creators who are THE BEST IN THEIR FIELD at attracting users (attention) Perhaps then, you'd be able to scale individual communities that, in totality, would replicate Bitcoin's success That is the key π

The rise of Web2 social behemoths (facebook, etc.) showed the power of individual creators Web3 gives creators all the tools to take that power back Tokenizing the ability to do so (with assets that aren't just pure speculation) is more powerful than putting bonds onchain

That has been the secret to what @coinage has been pioneering as the first community-owned Web3 media project: By letting our viewers own us, we have realigned incentives to scale faster β and just broke 100,000 subscribers on YouTube in record time

Don't get me wrong, tokenizing stocks and bonds will be a component that separates winning blockchains from losing ones But the true power of Web3 is not in replicating the market failures that spawned Bitcoin It's in creating markets that could've never existed before
