All things move towards entropy. Including our minds. Having the same mental inputs will lead to comfort, anxiety, and chaos. Creativity is the antidote to psychological entropy. You have to push into the unknown to encounter opportunities to continuously create meaningful order.

Super interesting. Gets me thinking: is novelty seeking and/or intellectual curiosity an urge that derives from the desire to continuously create meaningful order?

I think so. It's certainly seems to be a prerequisite to intentionally introducing new information (we intake new information unintentionally all the time).

Intellectual curiosity seems to be guided by genetics to a large degree. Seeking novel exp. and information might be our minds way of stacking additional "context", hence the dopaminergic response to new things. Great for biological adaptation. And creativity may be a psychological way of exercising "adaptation".

Okay, you packed way more interesting ideas in 2 casts than I thought possible 🙂 Re: stacking context - one of the things I love about travel is seeing how different cultures solve the same problems (food, transport, law and order, etc) - and ofc this added context gives new perspective on your home culture.
