If it's doing something people find naturally valuable outside of simply convincing more people it's worth investing in, I don't think of that as grift.

Personal agents that be equipped with different skills bought from a marketplace sounds cool to me (as a dev and a user). Obviously the jury is out regarding long-term utility, but it's unique and value-focused.
