Can someone more knowledgeable than me please explain what it means when "Solana is down"? Why does this happen? And why did it happen today, and not, say, last week when there was a lot of activity around the JUP drop? Here to learn! Big SOL fan.

From what I can tell so far, it looks like some sort of algorithm bug or something like that. Maybe some new code was implemented recently. Waiting for a full postmortem from Solano before I say anything with confidence

sounds like a pretty centralised network, the majority nodes were 1) either down intentionally for maintenance or upgrades, or worst, 2) down unintentionally and they are trying to fix it
