The popular streaming platform Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) released a documentary on the hacking of the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange, during which about 120,000 bitcoins were stolen.

The film called "Biggest Heist Ever" was directed by Chris Smith. The film describes the history of hacking in detail, highlights the opinions of the participants in the investigation and acquaintances of the defendants in the case. Recall that the Netflix exchange was hacked in 2016, then 119,756 bitcoins were stolen. Ilya Liechtenstein and Heather Morgan were arrested in the winter of 2022 on suspicion of laundering $4.5 billion. That's how much the stolen bitcoins cost at that time.

Last year, both defendants in the case pleaded guilty. Liechtenstein was sentenced to five years in prison, and his wife to 18 months in prison.

The stolen assets were discovered and frozen by the U.S. Department of Justice.
