I know Tyler, the Creator’s Chromakopia had impressive first-week sales, but I’m curious: do people still care about sales numbers? When was the last time stats like first-week units, pure album sales, or streaming counts actually grabbed your attention?

Yesterday the Lindy Man (Paul Skallas) posted an interesting essay on how the 2010s changed our thinking.

His observations are astute:

1. It's ok to be fired from your job for posting on social media

2. Caring about metrics as a fan is normal now

3. Some platforms are for couples and platforms are for individuals

4. Self-improvement became more important than contentment

5. Culture and consumerism became increasingly geared towards women

6. Experience means more than possessions

7. Activists took control of political parties

8. Identity became very important

9. It's OK to experiment on young people

10. Everyone is walking around thinking they have mental health problems

I get that metrics and stats are intriguing to fans, im one of those people, but the lack of transparency and accuracy makes them mean very little to me. I'll check out the article though, thanks for sharing!
