eh I feel like it’s pretty chill / normal to state his intentions in one acceptance speech 

if you had 1 minute in front of your entire industry looking at you, it’s not a bad idea to say what you stand for

I think his intentions are clear, and he shows that with his actions!

To be clear, I think it's great that he is striving for greatness, and more people should be aiming higher than they currently are (pun intended)

I also generally think award shows are a waste of time and a poor measure of talent or success - broadly speaking, it's an arbitrary group of people, disconnected from the action, arbitrarily picking who they think is the best in an industry

I'd rather let the actor / movie's performance speak for itself over a longer time frame - not just at a point in time
