We're bringing native interoperability to the Superchain this year. This means low-latency, fungible, and portable assets across chains. 

Two pieces to enabling this are the message passing protocol and the token standard.

Not sure if it’d work here, but felt like wrapping or bridging was always a hassle w/ potentially high gas 

Would be nice to be able to send one token to an address, & receive an equivalent token at the intended destination

Great idea! We just brought native WELL to Base as an xERC20. I hope the superchain token standard can be compatible with xERC20, because we really don't need "yet another token standard..." 😅

I believe our xERC20 can simply be upgraded to support the native OP messaging layer for mint/burn.

Agreed, because there's an initiate tx and finalize tx we're planning to work with relayer services so from the end user perspective it just feels like 1 tx :)

We could add an execute instruction after the mint ? I think it should be added as it may reduce txs for users

Is the `L2ToL2CrossDomainMessenger` smart contract deployed on testnets? Can't find anything in the docs or in the Optimism contract addresses documentation.

Where there will be any AMM with crosschain liquidity?

2 questions:

Does this mean smart accounts have to spin up an ephemeral EOA to bridge?

Will there be a similar extension to the optimism 721 bridge with similar ergonomics? The message passing seems nearly identical.
