starting to get over vinyl. what someone should make are little coaster-sized chips with album art on them so a device can look up the album and stream it instantly in lossless. would evoke the tactility of manually selecting music without taking up a bunch of space.

isn't the acoustic profile of vinyl also something people want? or not really?

Many '80 albums are very similar to the CD version, there's no acoustic profile other than RIAA curve. Average vinyls sound a bit more muffled with softner transients, the digital version would sound better if the transfer is done properly.

My intuition is that they like collecting and showcasing objects more than the actual acoustics. I just realized that my setup as the vinyl going to digital instantly and I’d bet you dinner that the quality is strictly worse than lossless streaming.
