Just paid $550 for an automated ticket I got for running a red light in LA. Ticket took 30+ days to show up in the system. No explanation of the cost or anything - is it me or does this feel absurd?

Try ticket ninja to appeal it for $99, I’ve had success appealing tickets and I know friends that have had absurd success rates doing the same using these services, worth it
