In 1930, Kishiro began researching diesel engines, and three years later, set up the automobile department in a small part of his father's spinning mill. Kishiro Toyoda's activities eventually led to the establishment of the Toyota Motor Company. Toyota is currently known as the largest car manufacturer in the world.
