Former US Treasury Secretary Summers said that although the August non farm payroll report was not particularly bad, it did make it more difficult to predict the magnitude of the Fed's possible interest rate cuts this month. Summers said in an interview, "Although the data does not show a very obvious weakness, if you are concerned about recent statistical trends, these data will definitely not provide you with a guarantee of economic health." "Compared to my guess one or two months ago, the probability of a 25 basis point and 50 basis point rate cut in September seems closer. @eswat @yegane
