Great idea! I wonder when does physical art count as generative. Does it need to be a physical derivate of digital genart or how can we add rules and randomness to physical art?

I came across this question after a friend signed me up for an art show in June. I‘m thinking about to make 50-100 small physical paintings by applying generative rules to them but I’m not sure yet about the details.

This is an interesting question. I guess there is no single answer. Intuitively I'd say, generative art is defined by the use of systems, rules, or algorithms to generate an artwork. Generative artworks can be created digitally or physically and be transferred into the first or the latter form and vice versa.
