Coinbase has submitted a Freedom of Information Act request to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), seeking disclosure of the agency’s total spending on crypto enforcement over the past four years, a list of involved companies, the number of staff assigned to the cases, and related financial details. Coinbase Chief Legal Officer Paul Grewal stated that the request aims to enhance transparency rather than retaliate against the SEC’s past enforcement actions. Despite a shift in the SEC’s stance following the U.S. government transition, with some cases being dropped, Coinbase still seeks to account for enforcement costs to promote a more rational regulatory framework in the future.
