Despite his initial cooperation with Hitler through the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact of 1939, Joseph Stalin ultimately played a crucial role in defeating Nazi Germany during World War II. In June 1941, Germany violated the pact by launching Operation Barbarossa, invading the Soviet Union. Despite initially ignoring warnings from Allied forces and his intelligence agents about the impending invasion, Stalin's forces endured significant casualties. However, by 1943, the Soviet Union managed to turn the tide and defeat the Nazis on the Eastern Front.
Following the war, Stalin sought to expand communist ideologies beyond Europe, leading to tensions with his former Allies, America and Britain. These tensions contributed to the onset of the Cold War, marking a period of geopolitical rivalry between the Soviet Union and the Western powers. 0 reply
