Have you ever seen the inspiring tale across the channel in the New Concept Textbook, or watched the movie / "Young Woman and the Sea"? Believe me, there's no denying that -both works shine a spotlight on the remarkable Trudy Ederle, the first woman to ever swim the EnglishChannel. From the very moment I learned about her, it's an understatement to say that I was madly captivated by her. In that sexist period, women were banned from swimming / due to dress codes. Ederle learned to swim to survive a shipwreck. Despite criticism, she trained tirelessly in a small women's pool. Knowing strength could change rules, she persevered. On her way to conquer the English Channel, she faced gender barriers. In her first attempt, she was drugged by her coach and failed.
