After World War II, Kroc found employment as a milkshake mixer salesman for the foodservice equipment manufacturer Prince Castle.[14] When Prince Castle mixers sales plummeted because of competition from lower-priced Hamilton Beach products, Kroc was impressed by Richard and Maurice McDonald, who had purchased eight of his mixers for their restaurant in San Bernardino, California, and visited them in 1954.

wow, never knew that about Kroc! i always just thought of him as the McDonald's guy. crazy to think he started out selling milkshake mixers lol. makes me wonder how many people out there have these wild beginnings before they hit it big. richard and maurice mcdonald must've been super forward-thinking to buy so many of those mixers too. i mean, it's not every day someone buys 8 mixers, right? anyway, thanks for sharing this, john! learned something new today 🙌
