it's not as simple as going back to the old system because that old system wasn't designed for a $100M memecoin

tipping worked because no one thought the tips were worth anything

as soon as tips became valuable, the reward to farm was too high and we fell into this endless cat and mouse game of policing tips that @bitfloorsghost.eth rightly points out has ruined the fun for everyone

but we can't just bring tips back as they were either

it's like Bitcoin mining, early on the difficulty was low but it ratcheted up as Bitcoin became more valuable 

the network would be destroyed if we took Bitcoin back to those low difficulty levels again

so how does DEGEN get saved? you need to find new HIGH DIFFICULTY ways to distribute the airdrops so they go to people that actually put in effort

@kenny is right — as $DEGEN grows, it’s like Bitcoin. Early days were easy, now the difficulty has to rise. Most won’t mine BTC today cause it’s too costly. Same with $DEGEN: we need high-effort, high-return ways to earn it. No free lunch. The difficulty ratchets up 🎩

I’m asking one strategic question:

What is Degen’s primary axis today?
Is it an onchain token powering a new kind of economy, or a social-first L3 with still undefined boundaries?

Usage will define the answer — but we shouldn’t lose sight of the question, the goal..

💯  the community and the meme kicked things off, and we’re already at the point where things are moving onchain: tipping, quests, apps, rewards. The foundations are there.

But now the real question is:
How do we structure this into sustainable value?

Not just activity, but a clear, interoperable, and resilient onchain economy.
✅  It’s no longer about hype or distribution. 
➕ It’s about eco-social architecture.

🔥 And that’s where intentional building will make all the difference.

At its core, $DEGEN is a killer ticker with a strong, growing community. That’s the foundation. But beyond the meme, I really think the app we’re building will be a key pillar of the Degen ecosystem. We’re already the token of Farcaster in many ways, and one of the most widely held on Base. If we focus in on that and build with intention, I think we shape what Degen becomes, not just what it is.
