**Anonymous post** I used to think I had to think the opposite of what I want to get it. I had to think negative if I wanted something positive. Say for instance, I interviewed for a job, I might have thought “no, I won’t get it” and that means that I would actually get it by thinking this. I normally got it :) But, I think what that did was lower expectations so I wouldn’t be so keen and probably behaved unnaturally. This thinking helped me to relax, be me, put some comedy into the conversation and it normally went so well. If I didn’t get it then gosh I didn’t expect to. But, if I did, the victory would be somewhat of a surprise and oh so sweet! I do believe in positive thinking now (you know what they say about thoughts becoming things) and sometimes, it gives me more anxiety than the negative thinking because I am expecting.

Years ago I started teaching myself how to expect nothing. Always. I have zero expectations for anything or anyone. That way I'm never disappointed and always surprised and appreciative. 🤷‍♀️
