The video game Concord, developed by Firewalk Studios and published by Sony, faced a rapid decline shortly after its release. Launched on August 23, 2024, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
Despite its strategic gameplay and promising lore, Concord struggled to attract a significant player base. The game peaked at only 700 concurrent players on Steam, and sales were disappointing, with just 10,000 copies sold on Steam and 15,000 on PlayStation. Due to these poor numbers, Sony decided to pull the game from sale and announced that the servers would be shut down on September 6, 2024.
Sony has offered full refunds to players and is exploring other options to better engage the gaming community. The quick downfall of Concord highlights the challenges of breaking into the competitive multiplayer market, even with a well-developed game.
