Great episode! I think Henri might be wrong about how Passkeys on Android work tho. Google Password Manager lets users use and recover Passkeys natively between Android devices, but the interoperability problems start when a user wants to use the same Android-generated PK on separate devices (esp if not using Chrome)

I'm following Android 14 because they're introducing the ability to do Passkey backups to TP password managers, which should theoretically make it easier to bring them x-platform as long as other operating systems will enable the user to authorize signing with a PK generated on another device, in another ecosystem

It depends. Interoperability hinges on the ecosystem where the PK was generated. Some useful docs:

I actually think what you propose could work if the product experience was appropriately simplified. Ideal case is a truly interop Passkey standard!

Interesting. I expect Google will solve passkey syncing first party, but then if I have icloud keychain on my phone and chrome or brave on my computer, will I be able to use the same passkey on both? Perhaps solution is each passkey manager having its own passkey as a signer on the AA wallet, but that is more complex.
