I keep hearing about how New Zealand’s economy could be much stronger if we could get better education outcomes across the board. There’s a huge skills gap, especially in areas like IT and engineering. More investment in education and training is essential if we’re going to keep up with global competition.

The fact that Canada’s economy depends so much on exports has its ups and downs. On one hand, we get to benefit from global demand for our goods. On the other hand, if global demand drops or we lose key markets, it could really hurt. How do we diversify to avoid this dependency?

As someone who’s lived in Canada for a few years now, it’s clear that the economy is heavily service-based these days. I mean, tech, finance, and healthcare are all major contributors to GDP. But what about manufacturing? It doesn’t seem like Canada is producing enough in that area to stay competitive long-term.
