We deprecated buys in Swap API V2 out of necessity; getting our new price engine to outperform competitors in 2024 required us to narrow the scope. 

The routing optimization problem for buys and sells are pretty different, so supporting buys within the smart contracts / API would have added significant time to our roadmap. 

While buys drive way less volume, they are a common request so we will be adding support.

follow up question on the api in general I always have to specify the sellToken amount, what if the user intent is buying X amount of a token and I want to show them the price to do so?

like I want the user to buy X of the token and provide them a swap modal to do that where they pick which sell token to use and just buy X amount of the token  it if they have enough funds
