Ngl as a Bay Area resident I kinda don't like this? I love SF, but there is a corrosive element to SF, it's government, Cali and it's government that is difficult to live with. But, we accept reality as it is and transmute it into what we want! Gotta roll up our sleeve and build/create/repair/heal ❤️

My impression: SF had its hippie movement, then had the wealthy financiers move in. There was a political tug-of-war, and now the gov is the worst of both worlds. Then the VCs made their startups move into the city, and all the engineers got dragged into the middle of this ongoing class war. So, yeah, not ideal.

It does really feel like a strange Molloch-esque misalignment of incentives, doesn't it? I just don't get the sense that people are happy in SF? I tend to gravitate happy people but I still notice how the vibe is in places. Places like the Presidio have their high vibrations though, that place is great tbh
