I’m at a hotel in Hamburg 🇩🇪 and although I’m the only person in the gym, they refuse to turn off the background music on it. Huge contrast with the hotel in Brussels during EthCC that had a bowl of earphones.

There’s a greeter in the adjacent spa. They say the music is part of the hospitality experience and it can’t be changed. Worth mentioning that the music is cliche upbeat like before portable electronic devices there could have been a defensible argument. Nowadays though it’s just legacy. All so German it hurts.

"All so German it hurts." - haha I resonate with this. Though German used to mean the prussian virtues. Would love to go back to that meaning of German instead of blind rule following and creating rules just to have them
