This February, we built 80 leaky weirs to slow, spread & soak stormwater, retain moisture & nutrients, recover healthy riparian function & recharge groundwater - along W Amarillo Creek at Wildcat Bluff Discovery Center It's rained enough to activate flow & we're harvesting rainwater ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ A good start๐Ÿค

More #NIDS (natural infrastructure in dryland streams) in action. This is a low magnitude flood event, had 2-3 like this since the start of the growing (& rainy) season. The prime objective for yr 1, get vegetation established within, on & around the structures - nature helps withstand high magnitude flow events ๐Ÿค
