I recently became an enjoyer of a very hacked delightful dinglespeed-ish 2x2 drivetrain, running a 16 + 18 double freewheel in the rear and 42+38 tooth rings up front. https://www.whiteind.com/product/double-freewheels/ Anyone else doing this?

I've never heard of this! And I'm fascinated. So this is effectively giving you 4 different gears π€ What attracted you to this versus having a traditional multi-geared bicycle?

Simplicity, and fun mostly. I've spent most of the past 20 years riding a single speed bike around the city. I also have a geared bike for longer rides. But single speeds are much easier to maintain, lighter, and less noisy. This is kind-of a compromise between the two - provides a tighter chain, but with some options.

I'm not sure if I'd recommend this to everyone, but I'm having a lot of fun with it.
