Seems like a really dumb reason to crash the economy and act like an authoritarian, but ok.

I just find the hypocrisy annoying. One side recognizes the problem and the other side acts on it, one side gets bashed as if they are anti American. Exhausting

What problem does a military parade solve exactly?

Not sure. Maybe a public display and reminder to our citizens that we have men and women in uniform that love this country enough and ready to die for it. Other than that maybe to show other countries that our military is not to be taken lightly. Be neat to see

I’m pretty sure the 20 odd countries we’ve helped bomb and destroy over the last 2 decades has been a great demonstration that we’re not to be taken lightly. 

The only countries that do big military parades like this anymore are Russia and North Korea. We should not be acting like them. 

Eisenhower was responsible for helping end WW2. His words mean as much today as they did when he said it.
