What is justice? Why is it blind?

Justice is what's right. The blindness depicts impartiality and all being equal before the law. Often, justice is used as retribution or punishment. These are not mutually exclusive, though very different. I appreciate that justice cares not who or what you are, though should justice be all-seeing instead of blind? What is more just than the truth? Where the light shines, justice floods. In darkness and secrecy is where justice is hidden from.
