Quite a damning description of Spanish sexual norms from Bolaño, who was Chilean 💩 (From his novel, “2666”) What do my Spanish friends have to say about this? @victoctero @al3jandro 🤔

Wait… what a disadvantage!? Isn’t that the same!? 😂😂 I imagine it was referring to the influence of the Catholic Church in Spain and the censorious yoke it has had on sexual culture. Too many years shaping Spanish society, its customs and freedoms. Stigmatising behaviours that were accepted and normalised in other cultures. Obviously those concepts are not the same but if the church said so... that's how it ended up being assumed... you know the prize of heaven was at stake 😇😅 I'm not sure if I shed any more light on your doubts 🤓It's just my assumption, don’t know the text myself

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I thought maybe there’s some intense animosity between Chileans and Spaniards, but I think you’re right that it’s Bolaño offering some damning commentary on the Catholic Church (don’t think he was a big fan of religion).
