A few things currently. It supports ham tips, social tips that are settled immediately once received, unlike any other tipping mechanism that exists. The cost per transaction makes this feasible. The tipping infra also supports 30 other coins with Floaties. 

There's FID to wallet mappings and vice versa on ham chain that isn't available on any other blockchain. This simple mapping enables some interesting projects like NFTs or coins that can be owned or claimed only by those with farcaster accounts. 

Before we launched ham chain we asked that same question. Why ham chain? To support a new onchain tipping paradigm and to put social data directly onchain to enable new types of projects to be built.
