An extraordinary founder was Desmond Doss, a WWII Army medic and conscientious objector, who saved 75 soldiers at Hacksaw Ridge WITHOUT carrying a weapon, earning the Medal of Honor. His heroic story was immortalized in the film “Hacksaw Ridge.” He passed away on March 23, 2006, but his legacy lives on.
