Quantifying, for my own accounting:
- Open Ventures paid BCBHShow our going rate for an ad read. 0.1 ETH, ~$300. I reached out to him, not the other way. They did not want an ad read, so we did an anti-ad.
- after our brief interaction, I felt sooo much better about myself, and our work in the ecosystem, after asking for money
Just pausing to let it sink in, how rare that is.
We can see onchain how many payouts there were, maybe extrapolate how much goodwill got created, through positive-feeling interactions. Maybe he was only incredibly gracious with me. Probably not.
Here's the txn hash. Neither sender nor recipient are attached to FC accounts, but I sent my side immediately to a verified account, and it's only easy to find if you know what to look for.

I want to try to quantify the harm, for the scales of tribal justice:
- an ungodly amount round-tripped ~3 years ago. horrible breaches of trust and reputation. a nasty business scenario which, to their credit, the project thrived after making it through
- a new project, Clanker, facing a similar existential crisis. Some people there, who we have been made to feel are our online friends through familiarity and intimate reveals, being placed in a supremely difficult situation
- a bunch of Farcasteroooors feeling betrayed. For trust, hopes, greed, opportunity, grift, business dependencies and relationships
- some loss of innocence? Proxy Studio / Clanker was a uniquely non-venture backed, seemingly organic emergent project which did several useful things in the space. Maybe some questions (don't look too deep!) where that money came from to pay podcasters and people launching shitcoins? The onchain trading fees tho!
